How and how didn't the silk road contribute to silk trade?
The silk road was a major part of silk trade. Because silk was carried along the silk road. But the silk road was not for increasing the demand of luxury items such as silk but silk was eventually traded through it. Silk was hard to get then because of that. So only the rich like persian nobility wore silk.
Was silk ever traded? Why and with Who?
Yes, silk was traded, along with many other goods along the silk road. The silk road was basically a big, long trading route. It was traded for goods and treasures because it had such a high value. It was traded along these routes to various outher countrys over many months and years. It was very important to silk because i think that you would get a lot of return for such high value.
Who wore Silk?
Some people wore silk shoes interwoven with grass which i think wouldnt be comfortable at ALL, but many people wore them so they mustve been completley desprate! But by 85 B.C. Silk was in very short supply due to its popularity. And then since there was such a demand for it that only kings and queens wore them. They were made into beautiful gowns for the wealthy. And also embassadors from other countrys were given silk robes.

What was Silk used for?
Silk was worn on kings and queens. People painted on silk, and also used them for decoration. Some chinese silk paintings took hours to make which i think was a long time. They began raising silkworms to make these things around 6000 B.C. Sometimes they used it for silk scrolls.
How was Silk Found or Invented
Nobody really kniows when or how silk was invented but according to legend a ruler named Huangdi told his wife to go see what was eating their mullberry bushes. And when she got there she saw silk worms wrapping them selves in silky cocoons. I would have screamed and ran away from the worms but the girl didn't so she discovered silk. The girl was named Xiligshi and she ran back to her husband to show him her discovery. Then they started making silk. I'm glad she did because I love my silk pajamas.
